In 1871 the family resided at Low Valley, Darfield, Barnsley, in 1881 at Hope Street, Darfield, in 1891 at 37 (Ironmongers Shop), Snape Hill, Darfield and in 1901 at Poplar, Church Street, Darfield. He died on 12th May 1933 and is buried at Darfield Church. Daniel was a Joiner (Cabinet Maker) and Builder by trade and in 1871 was employing 4 men and 4 boys. White's Trade Directory of 1876 & 1879 listed Daniel Hammerton of Low Valley Darfield as being a Joiner, Builder, Wheelwright, Cabinet Maker and Furniture Dealer and also as having a Saw Mill. In 1880 he bought land at the top of Snape Hill in Darfield from Trinity College, Cambridge. On that land he then erected College House and College Terrace. The Methodist Church built in 1908 at Snape Hill Road has a stone carved with Mr D Hammerton. |

Frances was baptised at St Mary Church, Worsbrough on 31st March 1850. She married (1) John Harrison in 1869 at St Peter Church, Hunslet, Leeds and had eight children, Lloyd Townend, Frances Mary, William Oswald, Norton Hammerton, Sydney Parnell, Theodore Francis, Herbert Stokes & Charles John. In 1871 the family resided at Worsbrough Dale and in 1881 at Mill House, Eckington, Chesterfield but she was a Widow in 1891 living on her Own means with her children, at 196, Sheffield Road, Whittington, Chesterfield. On the death of her husband Frances claimed for damages against Boythorpe Colliery. She was awarded £3500 and £350 for each of her children, however Boythorpe Colliery Company Limited went into liquidation and Frances did not receive any money. A fund was set up in the local press and she received £3,140 4s. On 15th July 1893 she married (2) Reuben Allen at Chesterfield and had one child, Amelia. In 1901 the family resided at Hall End, Polesworth, Atherstone, Warwickshire. She died on 18th February 1909 and was buried with Reuben at Marpool Cemetery, Heanor, Derbyshire. |

Between 1841 and 1891 he and his family were living with and also assisting his Aunt, Elizabeth Carr, to farm her 10 acres at Upper Hoyland. George died in the Barnsley District in 1895. |

He was struck by a locomotive used for pulling wagons at the pit and was killed instantly. A Coroners inquest was held on 26th December 1885. He was buried at Spital Cemetery, Chesterfield on 29th December 1885. |

She married James Silverwood on 26th December 1860 at St Michael the Archangel, Emley and had five children, Sarah Jane, Mary, Mary Jane, Elizabeth & Ann. In 1861 the family resided at Warburton, Emley and in 1871 at Shings Lane, Emley. Betty died in 1879 in the Wakefield District and on 12th September 1879 was buried at St Michael the Archangel, Emley. |
