He married (1) Elizabeth Unknown, b 1805. She died on 13 August 1838 and was buried at Elsecar. They had two children, George, born 1st June 1843, Hoyland, He died in 1855 and on 3rd September 1855 was buried at Holy Trinity Church, Elsecar. Also Jane, born 12th November 1837. In 1840 he married Elizabeth Danforth, in the District of Rotherham, who already had two children. Although he will probably not be the real father of them he most certainly will have raised them as his own so will list as his for now. There are ten children in all, Mary Ann DANFORTH, Isabella DANFORTH, Elizabeth, Samuel, Ellen, Sarah, Emma, Edwin, William & Lucy. The family resided at Stubbin, Hoyland in 1841, at Elsecar in 1851 and at Water Lane, Hoyland in 1861. He was a Blacksmith / Engine Fitter between these times. William died on 12th May 1873 at Stubbin, Hoyland and on 15th May 1873 was buried at Elsecar. |
