In 1871 the family resided at Wards Yard, Thornhill, in 1881 at 9, Duke Street, Castleford and in 1891 at 4, Back Peel Street, Morley. In 1861 he was a Hurrier in a Coal Mine and was still a Coal Miner in 1891. He died on 11th September 1928 at 41, Third Street, New Crofton, Wakefield with his son Alfred in attendance.

In 1881 the family resided at Chorlton County Barracks, Canaley Barracks, Hulme, Lancashire where he was listed as a Private but between in 1891 and 1901 were living at 21, Vineyard Street, Colchester. Francis was a Wire Drawer in 1891 and in 1901 was a Labourer. He died in 1926.
