|
Father : Ephraim Thickett Mother : Jane Ann Hammerton Born : Barnsley (1884)
James was a Scholar in 1891 and an Apprentice Butcher in 1901. He married Lottie Dykes in Barnsley. This man is an enigma. According to his mothers death certificate he was born in 1885. However he appears to have been the same James Thickett, supposedly son of John Thickett of Helensburg, aged 21, who enlisted in the 30th Battalion in 1916 and was severley wounded at Passchendale in October 1917. However, John Thickett's death certificate claims he had no children. James was also a coal miner at the Metropolitan Mine at Helensburg |

He was a Labourer according to the electoral roles in 1926. John died on 28th March 1927 at Illawarra Cottage Hospital, Coledale, Australia of Pneumonia. His death certificate states that he had no children but there is evidence that he had a son James born at Durham in about 1895. |

In 1901 the family resided at 21, Hawson Street, Wombwell, Barnsley. He had changed his occupation again at this time to Foundry Glass Worker. Joseph lost his sight in 1929 and was taught to read Braille by Ron Kippax and Alan Kippax the test cricketers. He died on 18th March 1955 at Helensburg, New South Wales, Australia and was cremated at Woronora Crematorium. |

He was a Scholar in 1891 and a Horse Driver in Coal Mine Below Ground in 1901. Thomas was an alcoholic, maybe brought on by the War or the depression. The 1926 electoral roll records that he was a labourer of Helensburg. He does not appear to have married. Thomas left no will and so the Public Trust distributed his estate of £282- 4 shillings and 8 pence |
